Frequently asked question

What should I do before making any cryptocurrency investment?

Digital assets transaction may be subject to high risks and the price and liquidity of digital assets have seen large fluctuations. To avoid unnecessary asset loss and guarantee maximum profit while placing orders, CoinEx suggest you to check the following settings on your account: 1. Set a strong sign-in password For registration, please set a password with high security level (preferably a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters) and keep it safe. NEVER share your password or account info with anyone under any circumstances. 2. Bind a secure Email Ensure your email address is properly functioning and has no trouble receiving all notifications from CoinEx whenever you sign in to your account. 3. Complete TOTP Authentication Binding TOTP Authentication (such as Google Authenticator) will improve your account security to higher level. Please make sure your TOTP authentication is updated and functional. If you have recently switched mobile devices, your TOTP authentication needs to be migrated to the new device. 4. Bind your own Mobile number Binding Mobile will level up your account security and please ensure your Mobile number is able to receive messages promptly. Due to SMS delay or service incompatibility with service providers, you might not be able to acquire sign-in verification code promptly. In order to sign in in time and avoid unnecessary problems, we strongly suggest you bind and use TOTP Authentication. 5. Know your limit Before placing your first order, please familiarize yourself with basic knowledge about different types of order, your buy and sell limits to avoid unnecessary asset loss.

What should I know before binding 2FA?

Two-factor authentication (also known as 2FA or 2-Step Verification) is a technology that provides identification of users through the combination of two different components. In this case, you’ll protect your account with something you know (your password) and something you have (your phone). With Two-Factor Authentication enabled on your Cryptxo account, you will have to provide your password (first “factor”) and your 2FA code (second “factor”) when signing in to your account. For account security, we recommend turning on “2FA while signing in” after binding Mobile or TOTP to your account. What’s the difference between “Typical passwords” and “2FA”? A typical password usually includes a string of static information such as characters, images, gestures etc, easily cracked and insecure, while 2FA is more complicated and of higher security level. In Cryptxo, we support 2FA via SMS verify and TOTP verify: 1. SMS verify: Your account will be verified via a string of randomly generated SMS verification code. Instantly sent while valid in a short period time, SMS codes can only be used once before expiration. 2. TOTP verify: The Time-based One-Time Password algorithm (TOTP) is an algorithm that computes a one-time password from a shared secret key and the current time. It combines a secret key with the current timestamp using a cryptographic hash function to generate a one-time password, changing in every 60 seconds. What is TOTP and why do I need it? TOTP is an algorithm that computes a one-time password from a shared secret key and the current time, an example of a hash-based message authentication code (HMAC). Most of 2FA adapts TOTP and updates in 30-60 seconds, difficult to crack and relatively more secured. Recommended TOTP Cryptxo recommends using Google Authenticator or another offline authenticator app such as Authenticator.

What to do when signing up?

Receive Email verification code and finish the registration APP 1. Open App, go to [Account] - [Please sign in] and click [Sign up] 2. Follow the instruction and enter your Email address, password and captcha correctly 3. Receive Email verification code and finish the registration Attention Your registered Email is a vital connection between you and your Cryptxo account. Please keep your Email safe, set a complicated sign-in password (preferably a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and characters), remember and save your sign-in passwords (both Email and Cryptxo account) in a safe place. Why can’t I receive a verification email? Depending on the service of different carriers, there might be delay in Email delivering and sometimes your emails can take up to 10 minutes to arrive. If after more than 10 minutes the email is not in your inbox, it is possible that your internet provider is marking the verification emails as “Spam”. In this case, please check your Spam/Junk folder first. If one of our messages are found in these folders, you should have the option to mark them as "Not Spam/junk". Why is my Email verification code “Invalid”? For your account security, each Email verification code is only valid in 10 minutes. Usually, Email delay is the main reason for invalid Email verification code. In this case, you can click “Send” in 120 seconds to acquire a new Email verification code. Please make sure to enter the correct code before expiration. Attention Frequent operations (such as clicking “Send” repeatedly) will lead to temporary account lockdown for an hour. To spare you from unnecessary waiting, please do not click the button too frequently.
